| As the French 1st Army withdrew from Belgium after the Battle of the Gembloux Gap, elements of the Belgian 8th Infantry Division, originally based in Namur, joined in this retirement. These Belgians elements seem to have continued to fight, but under French command, until they could move to join the main body of the Belgian Army several days later. Can anyone provide any information on 1) Did the Belgian 8th Infantry Division (or significant elements of it)join the French 1st Army? 2) If so how were these Belgian units were incorporated into the French command structure? 3) What, if any, operations did the Belgians undertake while under French command |
